Namnam (Comfort Filipino Food)

There’s really not much to say about how my boyfriend and I ended up in Namnam. All we needed was to remember the words “comfort food” and our feet led us there.

It was a stressful week – we both barely get enough sleep (maybe 4 hours max) and there was just too much work. It was pretty late at night already and there was still too much work to be done but we both decided, screw it. Let’s treat ourselves.

So we did. We ate at Namnam in Greenbelt 3 and we had a great time.

Namnam serves Filipino cuisine… both the traditional way and with a twist. They have two menus. One that contains the classics as they call it, and then there’s the classics with a twist of the Namnam flavor.

The atmosphere is very vibrant – the crowd was made up of people like us: hard, stressed workers who wanted a place to just fill our tummies to de-stress. There were loud conversations, hearty laughs and smiling, helpful servers all around.

Since I’m such a fan of spring rolls (or what I lovingly know as lumpia), I ordered the deep-fried chorizo and quesong puti lumpia. Oh my gosh, it was really good. I wanted to share equally but I confess I went into hoarding. It was just so good. I have to say it in Tagalog, nagtatalo ang asim ng quesong puti at ang alat ng chorizo. Yum.

Of course we ordered the classic – sisig. The house crispy sisig which was also very good in our opinion. Just the right crisp; right amount of fat and meat and juice. It would have been great with a bottle of wine or one of their draft beers but we didn’t have that much time to stay.

We paired that with the University Fried Rice – rice made up of tapa, garlic and egg :) It was yummy, especially for both of us who are both breakfast food lovers :)


I’m so sorry for the photo. I think it’s pretty obvious we were too eager to eat that I forgot to take a photo before we devoured it.

Anyway, Namnam is definitely a place we would love to go back to. I think it would be better to go with friends. More opportunities to try out everything on the menu haha.
